use a variety of indicators to assess the level of development of a country

•levels of development in a country (quality of life)
          •economic: •income, job security, prices, infrastructure, casual jobs, pensions, GDP,
                              insurance, benefits

          •social: •family relationships, communication lines, healthcare, schools, level of crime,
                        communal activities

          •physical: •natural disasters, land geography, soil quality, cleanliness of water, climate, job accessibility, food quality, cleanliness of environment 

          •psychological: •happiness, security, freedom, safety



•indicators of development
          •wealth: •GNP - the total value of goods and services produced both in the country and by investment abroad (imports and exports). You may divide for ‘per capita’ 

          •quality of life: •literacy - can have well-paid jobs and better social skills, increasing potential
                                 •life expectancy - end result of all the factors contributing to quality of life, influenced by health, physical environment, human environment and personal lifestyle

          •composite indices: •HDI - contains three variables ( life expectancy, education and GNP per capita)
